The one-bag rules

• Under-seat size only. Different airlines on different legs means the smallest allowance wins. Pack for the meanest airline on your itinerary.
• A day per layer, not a bag per day. Merino tops, one spare pair of shoes at most, and a washing line's worth of optimism.
• Everything charges from one cable. One plug, one cable, one power bank.

Three-country practicalities

• Currency: two of your three cities probably use the euro. The third one won't - a fee-free card beats three pockets of coins.
• Left luggage: most stations do lockers for a few euros. Drop the bag, see the city, collect it on the way to the airport.
• The boarding pass folder: three airlines means three apps. Screenshot every pass the night before - airport wifi is where multi-city hops go to die.
